Chapters within Australia:
Starting or joining an SSDP chapter at your educational institution (university or TAFE) is a great way to bring people with a shared interest in drug policy together and have fun while advocating for change.
Some chapters have already gathered support and gone through the process of affiliating as a club with their university or TAFE's student union, student guild, or student body. Some chapters are working towards forming an executive team and gathering support to meet the requirements to become an affiliated club with their student union, student guild, or student body. Some institutions have students who have contacted us and expressed interest in being a part of SSDP but who need help and more local members to set up a chapter and work towards becoming a club.
Check below to see if there's an SSDP chapter set up on your campus, or whether you can help set one up! If a chapter is listed below with their email address, feel free to get in touch with them directly via their email (and cc: email@example.com). Otherwise, if your institution is not on the list or if there's no email address at your institution to contact, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to find out how we can support you to set up an SSDP presence on your campus and put you in touch with anyone who contacts us who is located near your campus or region. If there is no chapter for you to join and/or if you are interested in having a more central role in shaping the direction and strategy of SSDP Australia nationally, please become a full member of SSDP Australia so that you can receive voting rights at SSDP Australia's general meetings: Please complete SSDP Australia's Full Membership Sign-Up Form here.
SSDP Australia is here to provide support to fledgling chapters and established clubs of all shapes and sizes! You may be the lone SSDP member on your campus, but we are here to support you and make you feel part of a national (and internationally connected) community! And remember: You don’t need to be a massive club to hold awesome events and start doing activities in your area.
P.S. Please don't think that setting up and running a club is too much hard work! With each new team that we help, we learn how to make the process easier for everyone else. We are constantly updating our guides and resources, so don't hesitate to get involved!
